The map of the world
When I see this world map, it is no longer a small flame but a huge, global fire. In the Hungarian news, we can see these destructive fires but it is good to know that there are other types of fire: the Fire of the Holy Spirit, of the Blessed Virgin who builds, who protects us, who strengthens us . I tell you this to share with you some memories of my grandmother.
I introduce myself
My father was the second of my grandmother's six children. I was born in the family house where my grandmother always lived. There were also three of her children living with her when I was there.
Childhood difficult but very beautiful too
Maybe you could think it was a difficult childhood. Yes, it was difficult but very very beautiful too. Our house, our garden was large. Maybe you will see it; it was a bigger garden than the others in Budapest. People raised animals. There was no asphalt on the road next to it. The main road was very important. It was a few minutes before there was a passing vehicle but people knew each other very well. At the time, people led a country life. They have created human relations between them. Today, life is very different. Rather, it has become a territory of wealthy people.
Visitors at home
At the time, it was a bit funny because those who knew us called us the grandsons of the Flame of Love. The unfolding of this Flame of Love happened before our eyes. As I recall, there were always visitors to our house. Almost every day priests and lay people visited my grandmother. We always heard her say, whenever we wanted to know her: “I am not the one who is important; it is Jesus, it is the Flame of Love, the Blessed Virgin who are important in this story.”
A few words from my grandmother
If foreigners ask me if this lady is mystical, half-holy: it's completely wrong! She was a normal grandmother, strong despite her small size. She was very strong, very resistant and very severe as an educator. She was very active. She led a very severe life. If she was convinced of her own truth, she gave no contradictions. She was dynamic. It is that with three boys, she needed to be like this. In the evenings, sitting with us to tell us stories, she had a completely different tone. She radiated love and she could speak in a very enthusiastic way.
Here is a normal day:
She was already up when we got up
Let me share with you a normal day. I don't know what time she got up. When we got up, she was already up and she had gone to the Holy Mass where she is buried now, the Church of the Holy Spirit. She made our breakfast until we were teenagers. Since my father was disabled, she had very little retirement money. She served us the simple sandwich like a grand royal meal.
At the bottom of the garden, there was a small pavilion for her which was built by her children. She rested there if she had time. The walls of this small house were covered with his own hands with white stones. She transported these stones from a nearby quarry. Around the house was built by her a garden with lots of flowers as well as the copy of the grotto of Lourdes with the Blessed Virgin, of course. She also built a rock castle for us, so that we could play with our little figurines.
So, before we got up in the morning, our grandmother had worked in the garden. Because of the rocks there, it was very difficult to maintain order in the garden. We had to help him. We were very unhappy at that time because our cousin did not have to participate. We were very sad for that but today I say that it was very good to work in the garden. It trained us for life.
In the morning
After shopping and cooking, there were many visitors who came to our house. It was very mystical for me at that time but now I know that it was the first studies concerning the messages of the Flame of Love. It was the '70s. There were priests, theologians, scientists who came to us. There was also a Bishop who came to our house. All this happened in this little pavilion at the bottom of the garden where the Blessed Virgin gave messages. My grandmother had a very good tone to sing. She sang a lot for the Blessed Virgin.
My grandmother cooked for us
When she cooked for us, it was very special. I tried to be like her; it can be useful. What happened ? She did not measure the cooking time of meals with a watch but with a prayer to Our Lady, Our Father, Ave Maria. To be able to prepare a tea, it required about ten rosaries; for a soup, it was an entire rosary. So that's a very good method: praying and cooking together.
After lunch
There was afternoon rest for us. She retired to the garden and did the work around the house. In the afternoon, there were visitors who came without warning and with curiosity. It was continuous. My grandmother was open at first for these visitors but after a while she didn't like the "admirers". She was sending us to the portal to send them back. I was ten years old at the time. I tell them that my grandmother was not at home. There are people who came back several times and I made up several reasons. Once I told someone that my grandmother went to church. He said to me, "No. It is not possible because I come back from the church." This time, it was about a priest who came officially and without warning to be able to discuss with my grandmother. So there, life was very intense.
Evenings
They happened with stories until 8:30 p.m. We prayed a dozen rosaries the whole family together. My father was there, me, my brothers and my grandmother. We prayed together by the flame of a candle. She had a painting of the Blessed Virgin. We prayed in front of this painting and in front of the Holy Cross.
At the state orphanage
I was 9-10 years old when my father remarried but his second marriage was a failure, a bankruptcy. We went to a state orphanage for three months. We didn't tell my grandmother where we were but she found us. There were 30 to 40 orphanages at that time and she found us anyway.
Since the guards wouldn't let her visit us, she came to the fence to see us. Once she took us home for the weekend. When Friday came to pick us up from the orphanage, she saw how sad we were and she didn't return Monday. I remember that night the Authority people came. She told them that as long as she lives, she will not let us go to the state orphanage. These official people couldn't do anything.
"I will stay here until this cause is resolved."
My grandmother went to the Authority so she could be our official educator but she was fired each time with different reasons. One day she sat in front of the State Office. She said, "I will stay here until this case is resolved." She kept her promises. That day, we waited for our grandmother in vain. She sat there for hours. She was very resilient. For four hours she sat there in front of the Office. Finally, someone started the procedure. It was not a final decision. Later, the Authority sent us a person to study the situation, that is, to check if this grandmother and the environment were suitable for educating us.
The communism
You have to know that it was the 70s. Communism thought that if someone wanted to raise a child in a religious way, that was a big sin in communist thought.
At home, the other children who were adults but atheists, suggested to my grandmother: "If you want your grandchildren to be educated by you, then be kind enough to remove all the transcendent images, images of the Holy Virgin and Jesus Christ. My grandmother would say, "No!" I will leave everything here, like this!"
When our representative of authority came to see us, we learned that he was a Christian and a believer; he allowed us to stay there with our grandmother. On the part of the communist state, the Flame of Love was not welcome at all. At the time, the State and the Church could not coexist in a peaceful way. The State controlled and dominated the Church.
Faith in Jesus and the Virgin Mary
My grandmother's youngest son's boy was a policeman named Emmanuel. He was told, "You won't be advanced in your career unless you persuade your mother to stop this whole Flame of Love thing." Emmanuel wanted to advance in his career. He tried for days to convince his mother by saying, "Stop! I am your son. I will not advance in my career.” She said to him, “It is true that you are an atheist. You should trust in God, in the Blessed Virgin. Believe me! Everything will work. “People kept coming to us. Two or three years later, Emmanuel was advanced in his career; there was no problem.
A wish to fulfill
I could go on for a long time with this whole story, but time is limited. Allow me, however, to share one more thing with you. When we went to the orphanage, it lasted three months. It was a very, very sad time. When I became an adult, I said that I would have a family, children. I would like to protect my children from being orphaned by the state. We decided, my wife and I, that when the children grew up, we would adopt a child from the orphanage.
In Hungary, adopting a child is very difficult. In Hungary, you have to entrust all of this to God. Once, I said to my grandmother in my prayers, "Grandma, what do you think? If you want to do it, we can have a child from the orphanage." Two or three days later, I received a message that we could have a little baby from the hospital. Now we are raising an adopted child.
What could I do for the good Lord?
I also decided that if I have a talent, I would like to put it at the service of God. I write religious stories, I work for a Catholic publishing house and I am in an orchestra that is close to the charismatic movement. After thinking about all this, I thought to myself: What can I do for the good Lord?
I dreamed of my grandmother
That night, I dreamed of my grandmother and when I woke up, I couldn't remember my dream. It is a message, a sign. What should I do for the good Lord?
Four or five years ago, I opened the Internet and saw that Radio Maria had started in Hungary and colleagues were wanted. I went to Radio and became a colleague of Radio Maria. You said earlier that the Flame of Love is represented in some sixty countries. Radio Maria is also represented in some sixty countries. Thanks a lot !
