Conference by John Sullivan III in Denmark
June 12 to June 17
Flame of Love Weekend in Denmark: A Time of Grace, Unity, and Renewal
From June 12 to June 17, the Flame of Love community in Denmark had the great blessing of welcoming John Sullivan for a pastoral visit. During these days, he shared his knowledge, experience, and deep love for the spirituality of the Flame of Love through meetings, formation, prayer, and fellowship with our growing community.
We had a grace-filled weekend at St. Nicholas Parish in Esbjerg, where we gathered for prayer, formation, and fraternity.
The Catholic Church in Denmark is a small minority in a predominantly Lutheran country. Yet within this small Catholic community, the Church is beautifully universal. St. Nicholas Parish reflects this reality in a remarkable way, bringing together faithful from 34 different nationalities. Although parishioners come from many cultures, languages, and spiritual traditions, the Flame of Love reminds us that what truly unites us is our shared desire to follow Jesus Christ. Throughout the weekend, we experienced this unity in a profound way, discovering that faith speaks a language deeper than words.
The weekend was filled with inspiring presentations, heartfelt prayer, joyful fellowship, and moments of profound spiritual renewal. Together we reflected on Our Lady's call to spread the Flame of Love of her Immaculate Heart and left with renewed hope and enthusiasm to continue nurturing this mission throughout Denmark.
A special highlight of the weekend was John Sullivan's inspiring presentation on the Unity Prayer. His teaching invited us to understand the Unity Prayer not simply as words to be recited, but as an invitation to live each day in complete union with Jesus, allowing His grace to transform our hearts and reach others through us. His wisdom, humility, and faithful witness were a true blessing to everyone present.
We were also deeply grateful that, during his visit to Denmark, John Sullivan had the opportunity to meet with Bishop Czeslaw Kozon, The Bishop of the Diocese of Copenhagen, which includes Denmark, Greenland, and the Faroe Islands, who gave his blessing to the Flame of Love movement in Denmark, a great encouragement for our growing community. His support reminds us of the importance of remaining united with the Church as we continue responding to Our Lady's call to spread the Flame of Love throughout Denmark.
Another joyful moment of the visit was the opportunity to meet with a group of Vietnamese Catholics who were visiting Esbjerg with their parish choir. Sharing the spirituality of the Flame of Love with them was a beautiful reminder that Our Lady's invitation transcends languages, cultures, and national borders.
As a developing Flame of Love community, we were greatly encouraged by John's visit. We returned home inspired to carry the graces of these days into our families, our parish, and our daily lives, trusting that God will continue to bless the growth of the Flame of Love in our country.
May the Flame of Love of the Immaculate Heart of Mary continue to spread from heart to heart throughout Denmark and across the world, bringing people of every nation, language, and culture ever closer to Jesus Christ.
In a parish where 34 nationalities gather around the same altar, the Flame of Love reminded us that the language of grace is understood by every heart.
Kind regards,
Juliane
