The Flame of Love (FOL) Ministry celebrated her inaugural anniversary on 14 August 2022, with two activities:
Running the church canteen
And the Outreach Programme to Low Income Elderly with the blessings and support of our Spiritual Director, Father Paul Ngo.
Here is a little talk from Adeline Quek:
FOL ran the canteen for the first time and successfully served our hungry parishioners in the morning.
In the afternoon, FOL team spearhead our commencement of social activities with an Outreach Programme, working with Beyond Social Services (BSS). BSS is dedicated to supporting elderly living in HDB rental flats.
FOL was blessed with the opportunity to lead our parish’s first outreach event, at our church ground. With BSS’s help, FOL invited 27 elderly living in HDB rental flats, to an afternoon of food, fun and fellowship. The guests comprise of lonely elderly living on their own, who are unable to work due to old age or health reasons. They are also led by Uncle Willie, a wheelchair user, who actively looks out for his elderly neighbours and helps with food distribution, despite his disability.
FOL members (who are made up of different Parish members in Singapore) formed a band to serenade our guests and included a special solo violin performance to entertain our guests. Our guests also sang along with our band to evergreen songs. They were also entertained with a round of BINGO and the event ended with a lucky draw.
We hope that through this Outreach programme that our Catholic Parishioners and local Communities will continue to grow in Unity and Love for one another!
